Quick Start — Personal Clarity

Get your household finances organized in under 10 minutes. This guide walks you through everything from account creation to generating your first financial packet.

1
Create your account
Go to Register and choose Personal / Household. Your 14-day free trial starts immediately — no credit card required. You'll receive a welcome email confirming your trial.
2
Name your household workspace
After signing in, you'll see a blank workspace. Click the Household Name field at the top of the Intake Forms view and type your household name (e.g. "The Johnson Family" or "Sarah & Mike"). This name appears on all your statements and financial packet.
3
Enter your financial data
Use the Intake Forms tabs to add: Income sources, Monthly expenses, Assets (bank accounts, property, investments), Debts (loans, credit cards, mortgages), and Savings goals. Start with income and expenses — the dashboard updates instantly as you type.
4
Review your live dashboard
Click Dashboard in the top tabs to see your complete financial picture: monthly cash flow, expense breakdown, net worth, debt payoff timeline, and 12-month forecast.
5
Generate your financial packet
Click Print Packet in the top right corner. Your browser's print dialog will open with a professionally formatted multi-page financial packet — ready to print or save as PDF.
💡Tip: Your workspace saves automatically every 60 seconds. You'll see Synced in the topbar when your data is saved to the cloud.
Your Household Workspace

Everything in BLOS™ Personal is organized around workspaces. Your workspace is your private financial environment — it saves, restores, and syncs automatically.

What is a workspace?

A workspace is a complete financial profile for your household. It contains all your income, expenses, assets, debts, goals, and identity information in one place. When you log in, your last active workspace loads automatically.

Creating additional workspaces

On the Personal Clarity plan you can have up to 3 workspaces. This is useful if you want to keep separate profiles — for example, a current month view and a planning scenario. Click + New in the Workspaces section of the sidebar to create one.

Renaming a workspace

Hover over any workspace in the sidebar list and click the ✎ pencil icon that appears. Type the new name and press Enter to save.

Switching workspaces

Click any workspace name in the sidebar to switch to it. All data loads instantly. Your previously active workspace is remembered when you log out and back in.

💡Autosave: BLOS™ saves your workspace automatically every 60 seconds. You can also click Save in the topbar to save immediately.

Deleting a workspace

⚠️ Deleting a workspace is permanent. All financial records in that workspace are removed. Make sure you export your data first if you need to keep a copy.

Hover over the workspace in the sidebar and click the ✕ icon that appears, then confirm the deletion.

Free Trial & Billing

Your 14-day trial gives you full access to BLOS™ Personal with no credit card required. Here's how it works.

What's included in the trial

  • 1 household workspace
  • All financial intake forms (income, expenses, assets, debts, goals)
  • Live dashboard and statements
  • Cloud save and autosave
  • Browser print packet (PDF export requires paid plan)

When the trial ends

After 14 days your account enters read-only mode — your data is always safe and viewable, but you won't be able to add new records until you upgrade. You'll receive email reminders at 3 days and 1 day before your trial expires.

📌 Your data is never deleted when a trial expires. Upgrade at any time to pick up exactly where you left off.

Upgrading to Personal Clarity

Click your name in the top right corner of the app, or visit Personal Billing. Choose Monthly ($8/month) or Annual ($79/year — save 18%). You'll be taken to Stripe's secure checkout.

Managing your subscription

After subscribing, a Manage billing button appears on the billing page. Click it to update your payment method, view invoices, or cancel your subscription.

Cancellation

You can cancel at any time — your access continues until the end of your current billing period. You'll receive a cancellation confirmation by email with your access end date.

Intake Forms

The intake forms are where you enter all your financial data. Each tab covers a different part of your financial picture.

Income Sources

Add every income source your household receives. For each source enter: Name (e.g. "Primary paycheck"), Category (Wages, Business, Benefits, etc.), Amount, and Frequency (weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, annual).

💡BLOS™ automatically converts all frequencies to monthly equivalents for dashboard calculations. Enter your income exactly as you receive it.

Expense Forms

Enter planned and actual amounts for each expense. The variance column shows the difference — green means under budget, red means over. Categories include Housing, Utilities, Food, Transportation, Insurance, and more.

Asset Register

Record everything your household owns: bank accounts, savings accounts, retirement accounts, vehicles, property, and investments. Each asset has a current value which contributes to your net worth calculation.

Debt Schedule

Enter all debts with their balance, monthly payment, and APR. BLOS™ automatically calculates the payoff timeline in months and total interest cost for each debt.

Goals

Set savings goals with a target amount and target date. The dashboard shows a progress bar and projects whether you're on track based on your current cash flow.

Household Name & Period

At the top of the Intake Forms view, fill in your Household Name and Reporting Period (e.g. "May 2026"). These appear on all statements and your financial packet cover page.

Dashboard

The dashboard shows your complete financial picture in real time, calculated automatically from your intake form data.

Metric cards

  • Monthly Income — total of all income sources converted to monthly
  • Actual Expenses — total monthly expenses entered
  • Debt Payments — total monthly debt payments
  • Net Cash Flow — income minus expenses minus debt payments
  • Net Worth — total assets minus total liabilities
  • Goal Gap — total remaining amount across all active savings goals

12-month bar chart

The bar chart projects your income, expenses, and savings across the next 12 months based on your current data. Bars show each month's projected net position.

Packet Readiness

The readiness meter in the top right shows what percentage of required fields are complete. 6 of 6 checks clear means your packet is ready to generate. Incomplete checks are listed below the meter.

💡Aim for 100% readiness before generating your financial packet. Missing fields affect the accuracy of your statements and forecasts.

Goal progress

Each savings goal shows a progress bar, target date, and projected completion date based on your available monthly cash flow.

Statements & Reports

BLOS™ generates professional financial statements automatically from your intake form data.

Income Statement

A complete summary of all income sources with amounts, categories, and frequency conversions. Monthly and annual totals are calculated automatically.

Expense Report

Budget vs. actual comparison across all expense categories. Shows planned amounts, actual amounts, variance, and percentage of income for each category.

Balance Sheet

Assets and liabilities side by side, with net worth calculated at the bottom. Organized by asset and liability category.

Debt Schedule

Full breakdown of all debts with balance, monthly payment, APR, and calculated payoff timeline. Total debt, total monthly obligations, and weighted average APR shown at the bottom.

12-Month Forecast

Forward projection of income, expenses, debt payoff, and net worth over the next 12 months based on current data. Shows month-by-month cash position and cumulative savings growth.

Financial Packet

The financial packet is a complete, professionally formatted multi-page document that compiles all your financial information into a presentation-ready format.

What's in the packet

  • Cover page — household name, reporting period, preparation date
  • Income statement — all income sources with totals
  • Expense report — budget vs. actual comparison
  • Balance sheet — assets, liabilities, net worth
  • Debt schedule — payoff timelines and interest calculations
  • 12-month forecast — forward projection

Generating your packet

Click Packet Builder in the left sidebar to preview all sections, then click Print Packet in the top right. Your browser's print dialog opens.

Saving as PDF

In the print dialog, change the destination to Save as PDF instead of a printer. This creates a PDF file of your complete financial packet.

💡Set margins to None or Minimum in the print dialog for the best-looking output. Use Letter paper size.

Using your packet

Your financial packet is useful for: meeting with a financial advisor, applying for a mortgage or loan, annual financial review, tax preparation organization, and sharing with a spouse or partner.

Export & Print

BLOS™ gives you multiple ways to get your data out of the platform.

Print Packet

The main export — a complete branded financial packet via your browser's print dialog. Save as PDF or send to a printer.

↓ Excel export

Exports all your financial data as a formatted Excel workbook (.xls). Useful for your own analysis or sharing with an accountant.

↓ JSON export

Exports a complete structured data package in JSON format. Contains all records, calculations, and metadata. Useful for data backup or importing into other systems.

↓ PDF button

Opens the packet builder and triggers the print dialog directly. Same as clicking Print Packet.

📌 PDF packet export requires a Personal Clarity paid plan. Trial users can use browser print and Excel/JSON export.

Frequently Asked Questions

Professional Platform — answers to the most common advisor questions.

How many clients can I manage? +
Free plan supports 3 client workspaces. Pro supports 50. Enterprise is unlimited. Each workspace is one complete client financial profile.
Can clients log in and see their own workspace? +
Yes — invite them to your organization with the Client role. They'll need their own BLOS™ account. Client role access is limited to their assigned workspaces.
Can I white-label the platform with my firm's branding? +
White-label branding is available on the Enterprise plan. Contact support to discuss custom branding options for your organization.
Is client data kept separate between advisors? +
Yes. Each workspace is owned by the creating user and is only visible to users with explicit organization access. Advisors cannot see workspaces outside their organization.
Can I export all client data at once? +
Currently exports are per-workspace. Use ↓ JSON or ↓ Excel from any client workspace to export that client's data. Bulk export across all workspaces is on the roadmap.
What happens to client data if I cancel my subscription? +
Client data is never deleted. After cancellation your account reverts to the Free plan with 3 workspace access. Export your client data before cancelling if you need to preserve records beyond the free limit.
Can multiple advisors edit the same client workspace at once? +
Not simultaneously — BLOS™ uses a last-write-wins autosave model. For best results, only one advisor should edit a workspace at a time. Cloud sync ensures everyone sees the latest saved version.

Glossary

Key terms used throughout BLOS™ Financial Forms.

Workspace
A complete financial profile — either a household (Personal) or a client (Professional). Contains all income, expense, asset, debt, and goal records for one entity. Workspaces save to the cloud and restore on login.
Packet Readiness
A percentage score (0–100%) indicating how complete a workspace is. Based on 6 checks: household/client name entered, at least one income source, at least one expense, at least one asset, reporting period set, and entity type set.
Net Cash Flow
Monthly income minus monthly expenses minus monthly debt payments. A positive number means more money is coming in than going out. A negative number means the budget is in deficit.
Net Worth
Total assets minus total liabilities. Represents the overall financial position — what is owned minus what is owed.
Monthly Equivalent
BLOS™ converts all income and expense frequencies to monthly amounts for consistent calculations. Weekly amounts are multiplied by 4.33, bi-weekly by 2.17, annual amounts are divided by 12.
Goal Gap
The total amount remaining across all active savings goals. Calculated as the sum of (target amount − current progress) for all goals.
APR

Autosave
BLOS™ automatically saves your workspace to the cloud every 60 seconds. The "Synced" indicator in the topbar confirms the last save.
Financial Packet
A complete multi-page formatted document containing all financial statements — income, expenses, balance sheet, debt schedule, and 12-month forecast — ready to print or save as PDF.
Organization
A group structure available on Pro and Enterprise plans. Organizations have members with assigned roles (Admin, Advisor, Client, Viewer) and can contain multiple client workspaces.
Session Token
A secure authentication credential issued when you sign in. Valid for 24 hours with a sliding window — activity extends the session. Signing out invalidates the token immediately.
Personal Clarity Trial
A 14-day free trial for Personal accounts. Includes 1 workspace and all intake forms. PDF export and additional workspaces require upgrading to Personal Clarity ($8/month).
Variance
The difference between planned and actual amounts in the expense report. Positive variance (green) means you spent less than planned. Negative variance (red) means you spent more.
Tips & Best Practices

Get the most out of BLOS™ Financial Forms with these proven tips.

Data entry

💡Enter income as received. If you're paid bi-weekly, enter bi-weekly. BLOS™ converts to monthly automatically — don't do the math yourself.
💡Use the Sample button (topbar) to see a complete example workspace. Great for understanding the platform before entering real data.
💡Set the Reporting Period before generating a packet. Use a specific period like "May 2026" so your documents are dated correctly.

Dashboard & analysis

💡Aim for 100% Packet Readiness. The readiness meter tells you exactly what's missing. Complete all 6 checks before generating a client or household packet.
💡Watch Net Cash Flow. This is the most important single number — positive means saving, negative means deficit. Track it monthly.
💡Use the 12-month forecast to show clients the impact of paying off a debt or increasing income. Update the numbers and watch the projection change instantly.

Workspaces

💡Create a "What If" workspace to model scenarios — what happens if income drops, a debt is paid off, or a major expense is added. Keep it separate from your real data.
💡Name workspaces clearly. Use names like "Johnson Family — May 2026" so you can identify them instantly in the sidebar list.
💡Export JSON regularly as a backup. Store it in a cloud folder for safekeeping.

Packets & export

💡Set print margins to minimum in the browser print dialog for the cleanest packet output. Use Letter paper size.
💡Review the Packet Builder before printing. Click each section to confirm all data looks correct before generating the final document.
💡Save PDF to cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox) immediately after generating so you have a dated archive of each financial review.

Security

💡Sign out when using shared computers. BLOS™ signs you out immediately and invalidates your session token — the browser back button will not restore access.
💡Use a strong password. BLOS™ requires 8+ characters. Use a mix of uppercase, numbers, and symbols for best security.
